It is no longer news that the British longest-reigning Monarch, Queen Elizabeth has passed away. 

Her passing is currently being mourned not only by her 4 children (Prince Charles now King Charles III, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew (62), and Prince Edward ) 8 grandchildren (Peter Phillips, Zara Phillips Tindall, Prince William, Prince Harry, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Lady Louise Windsor, and James, Viscount Severn ) and 12 great-grandchildren (Savannah and Isla Phillips; Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, Mia, Lena, and Lucas Philip Tindall; Archie Harrison and Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor; August Philip Hawke Brooksbank; and Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi), but, by the entire world.

The Queen’s death was confirmed by Buckingham palace. She died at Balmoral Castle, in her Scotland Estate; it’s her traditional summer residence. 

Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96 on Thursday, 8th September thereby reuniting with her late husband of 73 years, Prince Philip. Queen Elizabeth married, the Duke of Edinburgh, Philip Mountbatten on Nov. 20, 1947, at Westminster Abbey in London. 

Before her death, the Queen had health issues, she had surgery on both knees to remove the cartilage in 2003, and was already using a walking stick in late 2021 which limited her complete appearance in some celebrations. 

Queen Elizabeth II Biography

Queen Elizabeth II was born on Wednesday, 21st April 1926.

She was known for her distinctive look in sleek clothes with a matching hat. She was known for her infectious smile, diligence, sound advice to many, and commitment to service and duty. She was reserved, practical and accountable.

The Queen came into power at the age of 25 after the death of her father, King George VI in 1952. She made more than 270 voyages abroad during her time as queen even though she never technically owned a passport.

Queen Elizabeth II was the first British monarch to visit China in October 1986, and the first British Monarch to visit West Germany. She visited the U.S in 1991 and became the first British monarch to address the U.S. Congress. She was also the first British monarch to travel to the Republic of Ireland since it won its independence from London in 1921.

Elizabeth was an International head of state; she was the head of the Commonwealth of Nations, a political association of 56 member states, composed mostly of former British territories. She was recognized as the constitutional monarch of 15 sovereign states in the Commonwealth including Canada, The Bahamas, and New Zealand.

3. The fifth in line to the throne, Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, was her grandson, and she was his grandmother. Prince Harry is married to Meghan, who is now the Duchess of Sussex. They live in California with their 2 beautiful children.
4. She had unyielding dignity and was committed to service and duty.
5. She was only married to one man, Prince Philip, and never divorced regardless of the high divorce rate in the country. Her husband, Prince Philip died at the age of 99 on April 9th, 2021. They were married for 73 years. After 70 years of marriage to Prince Philip in 2017, she became the first monarch to celebrate a platinum wedding anniversary. 
6. Prince William, her grandson, had tributes for her outside Windsor Castle. Other grandsons and other people gathered there to mourn.
7. She died in the afternoon at Balmoral Castle, in her Scotland Estate, at the age of 96 on Thursday, 8th September. She died 2 months after her Platinum Jubilee celebration.
8. She was 25/26 when she got the British throne, hence she spent 70 years on the throne making her the longest-serving monarch in British history. Her coronation was in 1953. She surpassed her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria for the title in 2015.
9. She hardly participated in jubilee festivities with palace officials because of her health issues.
10. She met numerous foreign dignitaries and saw Britain through several historic events and landmark moments. She was served by 15 British prime ministers, from Winston Churchill to Truss, and met with 13 of the last 14 U.S. presidents.
11. Elizabeth first became a grandmother in 1977 after her daughter Princess Anne gave birth to her son Peter Phillips.
12. The Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry’s daughter, Lilibet, who was born in June 2021, made history as the queen’s first great-grandchild to be born outside of the U.K.
