Danish footballer, Christian Eriksen’s real cause of fall on the field revealed, and UEFA criticized for…

Danish Professional footballer, Christian Dannemann Eriksen on Saturday, 12th June 2021 slumped on the field during a European Championship (EURO 2020) match. Eriksen was playing for his country- Denmark when this happened. His team who appeared in red and white sportswear was playing against the Finland team who appeared in blue and white sportswear.

His slump happened 43 minutes into the game, and Denmark’s captain, Simon Kjær, quickly attended to Eriksen before medics arrived. His teammates gathered around him, prayed for him, as well as shielded him from the camera, as medics performed Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). After a while, he was carried off on a stretcher. As he was carried off, the whole stadium chorused his name to show support for the midfielder.

The players from his team, the Finland team, and all his fans all over the world were worried about his condition. The match was then suspended for about two hours but then resumed after a message on the quick recovery of Christian was disseminated. Denmark’s team doctor, Morten Boesen said “Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest and “was gone” before he was resuscitated. We got him back after one defib (Oxygen). That’s quite fast,”

Eriksen also shared with his fans via his Instagram account that he was better now. View his post below:

“Hello everyone, big thanks for your sweet and amazing greetings and messages from all around the world. It means a lot to me and my family. I am fine under the circumstances. I still have to go through some examinations at the hospital, but I feel okay. Now, I will cheer on the boys on the Denmark team in the next matches. Play for all of Denmark. Best Christian”

Both Finland and Denmark teams agreed to continue the game. The teams returned to the field, and then, first played the final four minutes of the first half. Mathias Jensen replaced Eriksen in Denmark’s midfield. Fifteen minutes into the second half, Joel Pohjanpalo from the Finland team scored a goal. Denmark lost to Finland, 1-0, and Eriksen was named player of the match. However, the governing body of European football, UEFA (The Union of European Football Associations) has been criticized for continuing the game. According to people, they could suspend a game for 48 hours because of COVID- 12, but couldn’t suspend for a player who had a cardiac arrest.
