A closer look at the picture, you can tell that Beyonce Knowles Carter aka “Bee” aka “Queen B” wore a baby pink Gele. It blended with the pink gown she wore. Gele is a Yoruba word in Nigeria; when translated to English means head tie or head wrap. It is also worn by people from other African countries like; Ghana, Benin, Togo, and so on.
Gele is paper-like or made in fabrics like Aso- Oke (Silk), Brocades, Hayes, and in various colours and patterns. It is mostly worn on occasions like weddings. It makes one look traditional or African.
Beyonce definitely loves the African feel. Apparently, the picture of the multi-international award-winning singer and mother on pink Gele was gotten from one of her music videos- “Black is King.”
The Gele really looks good on her; except that she wore only Gele but did not wear an asoebi (#winks).
If you recall, in her 2019 Album titled The Lion King: The Gift, Beyonce featured lots of A-list African artistes, mostly Nigerians. The album was a big success and has about 14 songs.
The album featured her husband- Jay Z, as well as other artistes like Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lammar, Pharrell Williams, Blue Ivy, Saint Jhn, Tierra Whack, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Shatta Wale (I don’t know why she did not feature Sarkodie, her African features were incomplete, if you ask me sha), Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, Mr. Eazi, Tekno, Salatiel, Busiswa, Moonchild Sanelly, 070 Shake and Jessie Reyez.
